In a continuing effort to support IAEA activities John Kinneman of AdSTM, Inc. participated as a member expert of an IAEA team performing an Advisory Mission related to the National Regulatory Infrastructure for Radiation Safety in the Republic of Mozambique during January 28 – February 2, 2018. The team was lead by an IAEA manager, included a second IAEA manager and a representative from the Spanish regulator. Meetings were held with the National Atomic Energy Agency (ANEA) the regulatory body in Mozambique, part of the Ministry of Mineral Resources and Energy (MIREME) to discuss the status of regulatory activities and plans for the future. The team also met with the Prime Minister, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Vice Minister of Defense and the Minister of Health to discuss the importance of the regulatory program and received favorable responses. Members of the team visited hospitals to discuss plans for the expansion of medical care, particularly in radiation therapy. An action plan will be developed using the findings of the mission.
