RSRP Upgrades Regulatory Information System (Aris 1.5) In Paraguay

May 6th, 2014 —

From May 5th to 6th, RSRP provided training on the Advanced Regulatory Information System (ARIS1.5) to Comision Nacional de Energia Atomica (CNEA), the Regulatory Authority on Radiation Protection from Paraguay. The objective of this activity was to upgrade Access-based RASOD/AUTHORIZATION software for accounting the disposition of radiation sources to ARIS 1.5, an SQL based system with improved user interface and new features. The RSRP instructors installed ARIS 1.5 and explained the advantages of having the new modules for AUTHORIZATION and LICENSEE. Detailed guidance was provided on successful installation/de-installation of ARIS 1.5 and system backup. Under the new concept of the LICENSE module, hands on exercises demonstrated improved methods of information management for facilities using ionizing radiation sources. Training was conducted by Grigol Basilia of the Department for Nuclear and Radiation Safety of Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Protection of Georgia and Mario Rodriguez of AdSTM. Software was developed and is maintained by Nuclear and Radiation Safety Center of Armenia (N&RSC). ARIS 1.5 will be implemented as CNEA continues to a new phase of the country inventory project under the RSRP program.
