From November 5-9, 2018, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (US NRC) Radiation Sources Regulatory Partnership (RSRP) conducted a consultation for the Ugandan Atomic Energy Council (AEC) in Kampala, Uganda. Mr. Rick Muñoz provided information and guidance to Ugandan regulators with the objective of strengthening the regulation of licensing and inspection of industrial radiographic operations. Industrial radiography employs high intensity radioactive sources to examine materials. The consultation provided the AEC with a number of suggestions and recommendations to further develop their regulatory program including implementing new industrial radiography regulations and improving licensing reviews and inspection procedures.
