Workshop with the Radiation Safety and Nuclear Security Authority (RSNSA) of Mauritius: “Overview of Cyclotron Positron Emission Tomography Licensing Process and Inspection of Cyclotron Operations”

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Radiation Source Regulatory Partnership (RSRP) delivered a workshop on licensing and inspection of Cyclotron and Positron Emission Tomography (PET) practices to the Radiation Safety and Nuclear Security Authority (RSNSA) of Mauritius. The October 21-25, 2024, workshop provided an overview on the regulatory oversight of an 8.5 MeV licensed cyclotron facility. 

The weeklong training consisted of formal in-class presentations focused on overseeing the safe use of cyclotrons and the PET radiopharmaceutical production process. The workshop also included an on-site visit/inspection to a licensed facility manufacturing PET radiopharmaceutical materials used at a licensed PET imaging facility in Mauritius.
