From June 13-17, 2016, the RSRP conducted a one-week workshop in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic to discuss Design and Shielding Calculation in Medical Radiological Facilities. This is part of the undergoing collaboration with the Regulatory Authority of Dominican Republic aiming to strengthen Radiation Protection in the country. Discussions covered medical imaging and therapeutic modalities for the purposes of shielding calculation and design optimization. The reference literature for the workshop included documents NCRP145, NCRP147 and NCRP151. Software and other computer tools were provided to the participants to support the shielding calculation process. The training included many practical examples for participants and by the end of the workshop, participants took a test that covered all covered topics.
