The US NRC Radiation Source Regulatory Partnership (RSRP) delivered a virtual training seminar on “Overview of the Cyclotron PET Licensing Process.” The seminar was conducted in two 2-hour sessions on October 6-7, 2020. RSRP experts provided an overview of the production and licensing of radioactive material for positron emission tomography (PET) using cyclotrons, covering PET radiopharmaceutical materials to be considered for the licensing of PET facilities, safety requirements for the design and construction of PET facilities, and the principles of shielding and other radiation protection safety measures. Twenty-one (21) regulatory staff from Iraq, Uganda and the U.S. attended the seminar.
