RSRP signs first agreement with the Agency of Nuclear and Radiation Safety (ANRS) of Georgia

A newly formed Agency of Nuclear and Radiation Safety (an Independent Regulatory Body since January 4, 2016) signed on February 12, 2016 the first agreement with the RSRP to design and implement a web-site that covers ANRS activities. These web pages will reside at the Ministry of Environment web site. Vasil Gedevanishvili, head of the ANRS, and Sergey Katsenelenbogen for RSRN signed the agreement. Present at the signing were Maia Bitadze (MOE deputy minister) and Emily Larson (US NRC/OIP). Several topics of ANRS-RSRP cooperation were discussed during the two-day visit: draft memorandum of understanding between US NRC and ANRS; regulatory development in the areas of material security, transport, QA/QC and emergency response; update of the source inventory at the Mtzkheta storage facility and the preparation for the RSRP regional meeting scheduled for September 5-7, 2016 in Tbilisi, Georgia.
