RSRP conducted meetings with the Department of Nuclear and Radiation Safety (Vasil Gedevanishvili, NRSD manager) and the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Georgia (Maia Bitadze, deputy minister) during February 11-13 in Tbilisi. The meetings established the need to provide advisory support for the establishment of the independent agency based on the NRSD. RSRP and NRSD agreed that NRSD will continue to operate the western regional office from the Poti property and to cooperate in the areas of the regulatory development and the improvement of the NRSD information technology. We are pleased to announce that NRSD staff will continue to support RSRP global efforts to conduct radiation sources inventory work and the implementation of the Advanced Regulatory Information System developed by the RSRP.
