From January 21 through January 25, 2019, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Radiation Sources Regulatory Partnership (RSRP) visited the National Authority of Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety (ARSN) in Dakar, Senegal. On behalf of the NRC/RSRP, Rick Muñoz met with ARSN regulatory staff and industrial radiography users to provide information and guidance with the objective of strengthening their understanding for regulatory requirements related to licensing and inspection of industrial radiographic operations. Mr. Muñoz provided the ARSN a number of recommendations to improve and further develop their regulatory program related with the promulgation and implementation of new industrial radiography regulations, licensing reviews and performance-based inspection procedures.
