The U.S. NRC Radiation Source Regulatory Partnership (RSRP) delivered a virtual training seminar on "Introduction to Authorizing/Licensing the Use of Radioactive Material" for East African countries. The virtual seminar was conducted in a 1.5-hour session on January 29, 2021. The seminar provided an overview of the general goals and requirements needed for the authorization or licensing of radioactive material as described in the NRC’s consolidated guidance on materials licenses (NUREG 1556 series). Twenty (20) regulatory staff from Ethiopia, Ghana, Malawi, Mauritius, Rwanda and Zambia attended the seminar.
