RSRP Conducts Virtual Meeting with The Paraguay National Regulatory Authority in Radiation Protection

The US NRC Radiation Source Regulatory Partnership (RSRP) conducted a virtual meeting with the Paraguay Radiological and Nuclear Regulatory Authority (ARRN), on October 27, 2020, to discuss ARRN plans and identify areas for collaboration. The ARRN Minister and Staff Members and US NRC and AdSTM representatives attended the meeting.

RSRP and IRDP Conduct Virtual Meeting with The Nuclear Regulatory Authority, Ghana

The US NRC met virtually with two directorates of the Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NRA), Ghana, on October 27, 2020, to discuss their plans and identify future collaboration activities. The meetings took place under the auspices of the NRC’s Radiation Source Regulatory Partnership (RSRP) and International Regulatory Development Partnership (IRDP) which are supported by NRC contractor AdSTM.

RSRP Conducts Virtual Meeting with The Uruguay National Regulatory Authority in Radiation Protection

The US NRC Radiation Source Regulatory Partnership (RSRP) conducted a virtual meeting with the Uruguay National Regulatory Authority in Radiation Protection (ARNR), on October 23, 2020, to discuss ARNR plans and identify areas for collaboration. The ARNR Director and US NRC and AdSTM representatives attended the meeting. The meeting resulted in important discussions on ARNR´s vision for future bilateral collaboration, which include regulatory staff training on medical and industrial technologies and update existing regulations.

RSRP and IRDP Conducts Virtual Meeting with The Colombia Ministry of Mines and Energy and The Ministry of Health

The US NRC Radiation Source Regulatory Partnership (RSRP) conducted a virtual meeting with the two regulatory authorities in Colombia: The Ministry of Mines and Energy and the Ministry of Health, on October 23, 2020, to discuss the regulatory plans and identify areas for collaboration. The Heads of each Ministry including staff members, the US NRC and AdSTM representatives attended the meeting.

RSRP and IRDP Conducts Virtual Meeting with The Uganda Atomic Energy Council

The US NRC Radiation Source Regulatory Partnership (RSRP) conducted a virtual meeting with the Uganda Atomic Energy Council (AEC), on October 21, 2020, to discuss AEC plans and identify areas for collaboration. The AEC CEO and Senior Staff Members and US NRC and AdSTM representatives attended the meeting. The meeting resulted in important discussions on AEC´s vision for future bilateral collaboration, which includes public awareness activities, regulatory staff training in authorization/inspection for specific practices and radiation safety officers training.

The US NRC Radiation Source Regulatory Partnership (RSRP) conducted a virtual meeting with the Senegalese National Authority for Radiation Protection, Safety and Nuclear Security (ARSN), on October 20, 2020, to discuss ARSN plans and identify areas for collaboration. The ARSN Director General and Senior Staff Members and US NRC and AdSTM representatives attended the meeting. The meeting resulted in important discussions on ARSN´s vision for future bilateral collaboration, which includes radioactive sources inventory, regulatory staff training and radiation safety training.

RSRP Conducts Virtual Meeting with The Malawi Atomic Energy Regulatory Authority

The US NRC Radiation Source Regulatory Partnership (RSRP) conducted a virtual meeting with the Malawi Atomic Energy Regulatory Authority (AERA), on October 20, 2020, to discuss AERA plans and identify areas for collaboration. The AERA Director General and US NRC and AdSTM representatives attended the meeting. The meeting resulted in important discussions on AERA´s vision for future bilateral collaboration, which includes public awareness activities and regulatory staff training. The US NRC and AdSTM will continue to consult with AERA about appropriate assistance for their activities

RSRP Delivers a Virtual Seminar on "Introduction to Regulation of LINACS in Radiation Oncology" for Latin American Countries

The US NRC Radiation Source Regulatory Partnership (RSRP) delivered a virtual training seminar on “Introduction to Regulation of Linear Accelerators in Radiation Oncology” for Latin American countries. The seminar was conducted in two 2 hours sessions on October 15-16, 2020. The seminar provided an overview of the Linacs Industry Standards, Physics, Machines, Beam Modification Methods, Biology of Cancer, Modern Treatment Planning, Quality Assurance/Quality Management and Licensing Guidance.

New Agreement for RSRP to Support the Fourth Group of The Radiation Protection Master Program in Panama

On October 15th, 2020, the Universidad Especializada de las Américas (UDELAS) and AdSTM, on behalf of the USNRC’s  Radiation Source Regulatory Partnership Program (RSRP), signed a new agreement to implement the Master Degree Program in Radiation Protection for the 2020-2022 academic cycle. The agreement was signed in a virtual ceremony by Dr. Doris Hernandez, UDELAS Vice-President, and Sergey Katsenelenbogen, AdSTM. Dr. Arturo Rivera, UDELAS Postgraduate Studies Dean, UDELAS staff and Dr. Eloy Gibbs, the Academic Coordinator of the Program, were also present at the signing ceremony.

RSRP Conducts Virtual Meeting with the Rwanda Utilities Regulatory Authority

The US NRC Radiation Source Regulatory Partnership (RSRP) conducted a virtual meeting with the Rwanda Utilities Regulatory Authority (RURA), on October 14, 2020, to discuss RURA plans and identify areas for collaboration. RURA regulates sources of ionizing radiation in Rwanda. The RURA Director General and Senior Staff Members and US NRC and AdSTM representatives attended the meeting.
