Expert Mission to Review New Georgian Basic Radiation Safety Standards

During September 28-30, 2012 RSRP provided expert mission to Georgia to review a draft of new Georgian basic radiation safety standards. RSRP technical expert, Ramune Stasiunaitiene, who also serves as deputy director of the Lithuanian Radiation Protection Centre (RSC), discussed with colleagues of Nuclear and Radiation Safety Department (NRSD) of the Ministry of Energy and natural resources of Georgia, how to finalize new Georgian basic radiation safety standards to be fully harmonized with actual international standards, including those from the IAEA. The project was kickstarted when Georgian Parliament ratified a new law on nuclear and radiation safety in March 2012.
