Purpose:
To support capacity building for the regulatory body by addressing basic functions and skills needed by the regulatory staff.
Scope:
A variety of subjects are covered in both short introductory training delivered virtually and full 5-day in-person training. Subjects covered include:
- Training and Workshop on Conducting a Radioactive Materials Inventory
- Radiation Physics and Radiation Protection
- When to Conduct a Reactive Inspection to a Radioactive Materials Event
- Responding to a Medical Event – the Role of the Regulatory Authority
- The USNRC Approach to Preparing for and Conducting Regulatory (Safety) Inspections
- Preparing for and Conducting Performance Based Safety Inspections
- Introduction to Authorizing/Licensing the Use of Radioactive Materials or Ionizing Radiation
- The Inspector – License Reviewer Qualification Program
Each instructor consults with prospective students and their supervisors to understand their knowledge of the subject to be covered and to adjust to their needs and desires. Additional subjects will be developed and presented in response to requests from partner countries.
