The US NRC Radiation Source Regulatory Partnership (RSRP) delivered a 1.5-hour virtual training seminar on “Introduction to Well Logging” for regulatory staff from West African countries on May 25, 2021, and for East African/FSU countries on May 28, 2021. The seminar focused on the principles of well logging, the different techniques used for hydrocarbon prospection and radiation safety measures when using radioactive sources to measure porosity and density. Fifteen (15) regulatory staff from Chad, Cote D’Ivoire, The Republic of Congo and Senegal attended on the first date. Thirty-Two (32) regulatory staff from Armenia, Ethiopia, Georgia, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique and Rwanda participated in the activity.
